Emergency Storm Response

Northern Michigan Ice Storm

Following a severe ice storm in March 2025, Pierce Powerline supported large‑scale emergency restoration efforts across Northern Michigan. Crews worked alongside utility partners, mutual aid teams, and the Michigan National Guard to restore service under hazardous conditions.

Over a multi‑day response period, Pierce Powerline crews helped repair and replace thousands of downed lines and damaged poles, supporting power restoration efforts for nearly 200,000 customers.

Response Capabilities Included:

    • Replacing broken poles and damaged high‑voltage conductors
    • Clearing trees and debris from powerlines
    • Operating aerial devices in ice and snow conditions
    • Working extended 12–16 hour shifts to accelerate restoration
    • Coordinating closely with utility partners and mutual aid resources
    • Maintaining strict safety procedures while working near energized systems
